CIAR New Investigators Network (NIN)
The team of the Raising and Levelling the Bar (RLB) collaborative research grant is very pleased to recognize The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIAR), which created the New Investigators Network (NIN) in October 2002. CIAR launched NIN to complement the achievements of its Human Development Program by helping to encourage the work of a new generation of scholars studying the NLSCY. CIAR’s vision in launching NIN provided a strong foundation for the successful RLB application for funding from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). CIAR remains an enthusiastic partner of the RLB project.
CIAR brings together top researchers from different disciplines, institutions and countries and enables them to collaborate closely on questions of major significance to Canada’s long-term intellectual, economic and social well-being. More than 200 renowned researchers participate in the Institute’s 10 exploratory programs, which provide Canada with global leadership in exploring such leading-edge topics as: the importance of early childhood development in ensuring lifelong health and well-being; the potential of nanoscience to revolutionize information technologies; the history and nature of the Universe; the evolution of life on Earth, and the quantum properties of matter.
